What is Coaching?
Coaching is a relationship structured around the discipline of intentional conversations guided by probing questions.
A coach is not a mentor, a sage, or an expert offering solutions.
A coach believes that most of the answers to the challenges you face are within you. So, a coach asks questions – big, broad, open questions that create space and freedom for discovery.
In the stuffy room of intractable thoughts and frantic stuck-ness, coaches open a window and let in a little fresh air.
The process of coaching is about engagement and participation. It is an agreement to walk together, to accompany one another, to remain open, and to create options for action.
Coaching can be for results (addressing a challenge) or for development (pursuing personal growth).
Coaching is also a vital tool for reinforcing learning from workshops and retreats so that growth is grafted into the leader and ingrained in the organization and its systems.
